Project Overview

TPS360 was appointed by Grattan Developments to deliver a durable and low-maintenance flooring system at the Scania Workshop in Southampton. The 430m² facility required a robust polished concrete finish with clear demarcation zones to support workshop operations and safety requirements.

Scope of Work

TPS360 delivered a full surface preparation and installation package using the Husqvarna Superfloor Silver polished concrete system. This included:

  • Mechanical grinding of the existing concrete substrate to remove coatings and provide a uniform surface.
  • Progressive polishing through multiple stages to achieve the specified finish, including densification and final seal.
  • Installation of safety demarcation throughout the workshop, including walkways, hatching and directional markings.
  • Sealing of all floor joints with maintainable joint sealant for long-term durability.

Challenges

The existing substrate presented several challenges, including areas of localised spalling up to 15mm deep and surface contamination from oils and previous coatings, both of which required additional preparation to ensure a sound finish.

Temporary power provision was arranged to overcome site limitations, and works were carefully scheduled to ensure uninterrupted access and efficient delivery within a tight programme.

Mark Jackson,  Sales Director – TPS360 Tamworth says…
“This project is a great example of how we bring together technical precision and operational flexibility to deliver lasting results. The polished concrete system installed, not only meets the high-performance demands of a working vehicle workshop, but also presents a clean, professional finish that reflects the client’s brand standards”.
