FeRFA Large Commercial Project Award 2017: St Fagan’s – National Museum of History, Cardiff (joint award with Flowcrete)
The winning entry will be announced by guest presenter, Jo Caulfield, at the Black-Tie Awards Dinner on Friday 17th November 2017 at The Belfry Hotel.
Utilising funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Welsh Government, St Fagan’s National History Museum in Cardiff underwent a massive £25m makeover that included both new build and refurbishment works both of which TPS360 were an integral part of.
We were successful in the competitive process to be selected by the main contractor Kier Construction to play a key role in redeveloping Wales’ most popular heritage attraction within tight timescales and budgetary restrictions. As a local provider, we were able to offer technical support and advice to the client and provide a turnkey solution to this aspect of the project.
Whilst on site, the main contractor carried out an APR Health & Safety inspection. At the time of the inspection, our operatives were grinding an area using remote-controlled grinders and triple filter extract systems which was witnessed by the safety advisor. Impressed with the use of the machinery in a professional manner and how the risk exposure of HAVS and dust to operatives and the environment were significantly reduced resulted in the site receiving a BLUE award, this means it was recognised that we went above and beyond the standard procedures and excelled in safety performance.
Flowcretes Mondeco Mirrazzo range of seamless terrazzo flooring was installed to a suspended walkway and entrance/lobby area. On-going investment in high tech grinding and polishing equipment, and in our workforce ensured we are able to deliver this high quality product.
Congratulations to all involved with this project and good luck.
